Time Warp

Gads, has it really been three months since the last post? Where has the time gone? It feels like I've been in a time warp. Where to start? Christmas was a time to try on new rituals. Our move has necessitated different ways of celebrating. last year we all spent the year in Seattle with no home. This year the family all came here. Amanda was here for three weeks and Will and Crystal over the New Year's weekend. Although it was crowded in the apartment we all had a good time and the newlyweds got to see our world here in the Upper Midwest.

After the holiday I was off to southwestern Minnesota for J-term and the "Rural Immersion Experience" This was not a bovine baptism but rather a class to experience a new culture. Living at a retreat center, and with a host family, the 11 of us on this trip witnessed a variety of farms small towns, several ethanol plants, and a slaughter house. we learned first hand the excitements (really!) and challenges of rural life and ministry.

Do we look immersed yet?

A church men's group playing ball darts. This is like playing regular darts except the board is a baseball diamond. teams compete with hits and runs scored. The challenge is that the darts, twice as large as pub darts, are tossed underhand.

It is now in the middle of the spring term. Classes include "Exercises in Biblical Theology" (these are mostly aerobic), a survey of the prophets ("What do you think of Judah's chances this year?"), Modern Church History, and learning about the Holy Spirit (we have not seen Him/Her yet). There has also been the "Intern Placement Process" which I will expound upon in a later post. For now, I bid you aduie and promise to be more faithful in posting. boB
